Transparent, durable, compostable packaging for wholesale food and fashion.
TIPA bags are designed to degrade in the ground, not on the shelf. The composting process requires heat, oxygen, moisture, and microorganisms, so most TIPA packages are shelf-stable for up to a year (we guarantee them for six months).
Composting and biodegradation both involve natural degradation or the breakdown of organic matter into the earth through digestion by microorganisms, though they are not interchangeable terms. The problem with the term ‘biodegradable’ is that it is a vague term, without a defined timescale or conditions. If a material is compostable, it means that under composting conditions it will break down completely in a specific time frame (six months to a year).
TIPA’s packaging is made from proprietary blends of fully compostable polymers that are both bio-based and fossil-based (Yes! Fossil-based polymers can be compostable too!).
In general, all flexible packaging (compostable and non-compostable) requires proper storage conditions which are usually below 30°C and a relative humidity of 50%.
Please note: in places with extreme weather conditions, (i.e. extreme humidity or heat) the degradation process for TIPA® compostable packaging can be accelerated.
TIPA® products can be converted on conventional plastic converting machinery. Our films and laminates are designed to fit existing machinery and chain of supply systems for flexible packaging, making your packaging journey an effortless one.
The minimum order quantity for TIPA®’s reels and packaging applications is 500kg/1,100lb per size/design.
